Shirakawa-go. "Go" means a town. Shirakawa-go is among the mountains in Gifu prefecture. There still remains many Kayabuki Minkas, or "thatched houses." Four-story houses are big enough to live in for two or three families together. The whole family had actually lived in the same house until in the middle of 19th century.
