A noren, or "a store curtain" is the symbol of a store, bar, pub, and so forth. Its design may give us the idea of the trade name. This one, for example, is a curry shop. The name of the shop is "Indian." There's an Indian guy's face on the noren curtain. Indians are now called native Americans. No doubt curry is from India but native American is in North America. India's Indians like curry but do native Americans prefer any curry?
By the way, when they hang a noren at the door of the store, you can enter to enjoy having dinner, drinking a glass of beer...you name it! If you see no noren outside, the store is closed.
