Series 100.
The 100 appeared in the mid 80's as the newer Hikari Super Express.
It has some gorgeous cars like the first class compartment car, the dining car and so forth.
It is only fifteen years or so since the train has first been made, but the new comers like the series 300 or 700 are mainly used for the Hikari Super Express instead of the 100.
