This locomotive had been used for crossing the Usui pass only.
The pass is an incline of 66 ‰
which is between Karuizawa and Yokokawa.
In the late nineties the Nagano Super Express began to run
and at the same time this part of line was discontinued.
So the whole EF63 is no longer running.
Max power was 2550kw.
